Malaysian condom manufacturer produces Nasi Lemak condom

The condom company Karex took 6 months to produce its nasi lemak condom.

A company from Port Klang, Malaysia, has created a contraceptive that pays homage to the coconut-infused and sambal-kicking plate of nasi lemak. Dubbed the nasi lemak condom, the prophylactic has a coconut scent, and comes with a coat of warming lubricant.

The company producing the now-famous condom is Karex Berhad. Its CEO, Mr Goh Miah Kiat, shared his thoughts on the nasi lemak condom:

“We Malaysians are divided across our political ideas, religion and race. I felt the one thing that unites us all (is): Where’s the best nasi lemak place you’ve been?”

This isn’t the first wacky condom flavour released by the company.

Last year, Karex launched durian flavoured condoms. Goh stands by his company’s bizarre condom flavours, stating that they are more than a marketing plan and are released with the intention of promoting the use of contraceptives in Malaysia and abroad.

The condoms are marketed under the brand name Carex. As the package design for the limited-edition nasi lemak condom is still underway, it is expected to only hit the stores by the end of the year.
