SOUTH AFRICA – Cameraman, Garth De Bruno Austin, was in a midst of shooting a conservation film about rhino poaching in South Africa when a rhino approached him for a belly rub.
The whole scene was captured in a video and proved that even wild animals like this rhino need some TLC every once in awhile.
Austin wrote, “If a rhino walks straight up to you while you’re filming and wants some rubs… you better rub that rhino like your life depends on it!.” He added it was lucky that the rhino did not bother his URSA Mini 4K camera.
This may look cute to many, but Austin emphasised that rhinos are still wild animals and can be extremely dangerous. It was only after spending years of filming this rhino that he managed to build a certain level of trust with it.
Austin advised “Do NOT try and do this with a truly wild rhino as it may end up with you being dead!” He added that he did not approach the rhino, but instead it was its decision to allow his entry to its personal space.
